1. SIRODHARA

Pouring of warm medicated liquid on the forehead in a continuous stream with gentle massage by two people.

  • a. Tailadhara : Sirodhara with medicated oil.
  • b. Ksheeradhara : Sirodhara with medicated milk.
  • c. Takradhara : Sirodhara with medicated butter milk.
2. SARVANG DHARA

Pouring of warm medicated oil / milk / herbal decoction throughout the body .

  • a. Pizhichil : Pouring comfortably warm medicated oil liberally over the body [head avoided] followed by gentle massage.
  • b. Dhanyamladhara : Pouring of warm acidic herbal liquid all over the patient’s body.

3. PINDA SWEDA (KIZHI)

Medicated sudation by different bolus.

4. SHASHTIKSALI PINDA SWEDA (NAVARAKIZHI)

Massage done with small linen bags filled with medicated and cooked navara rice, after a liberal application of medicated oils.

5. PATRA PINDA SWEDA (ELAKKIZHI)

Medicated sudation by bolus made from processed leaves of medicinal plants .

6.CHURNA PINDA SWEDA (PODIKKIZHI)

Medicated sudation by the bolus of medicated powder.

7. BALUKA PINDA SWEDA

Medicated sudation by the bolus of warmed sand.

8. LAVANA PINDA SWEDA (UPPUKIZHI)

Medicated sudation by the bolus made from citrus fruit processed with other medicines.

9. JAMBIRA PINDA SWEDA

Medicated sudation by the bolus of roasted salt according to the conditions of diseases.

10. LEPAM

Applying medicated pastes on the body parts.

11. TALAM

Application of medicated oil or paste over crown.

12. TALAPOTHICHIL

Procedure in which herbal medicines are made into paste and applied over the head in Ayurveda special manner.

13. NAVARATHEPPU

Application of medicated cooked navara rice on whole or affected parts of the body.

14. UDAWARTANA

Massage with medicinal powder specially meant for reducing body fat, improvement of complexion, fuctional improvement of vital organs.

15. SNEHNAM (OLEATION THERAPY)

Internal as well as external done prior to Panchakarma.

16. SWEDANAM

[Sudaation technique done prior to Panchakarma therapy]Thirteen methods of thermal sudation like mixed fomentation , Hot bed sudation, Steam kettle sudation, Affusion sudation, Bath sudation, Sudatorium sudation ,Stone bed sudation, Trench sudation, Cabin sudation, Ground red sudation, pitcher bed sudation, pit sudation, pit sudation, under bed sudation are indicated in this method.

17. UPANAMHAM

Wrapping specific areas for a specific time interval with medicated pastes intended to subside inflammation or pain.

18. PALPPUKA

Sudation technique with medicated milk.



19. PICHU

Applying oil soaked cloth over affected body parts intended to reduce local stiffness.

20. ABHYANGA

Special Ayurvedic massage done by the two people using medicated oils.

21. SIROVASTI

‘Warm oils are kept on the head inside Ayurveda leather cap.

22. KATI / JANU & URO VASTI

A particular oil is kept over the affected part inside a boundary made of some herbal paste.

23. AVGAHAM (UZHICHIL)

After some oil applications the patient will be seated in Ayurveda tub of herbal decoction suitable for the patient’s condition.

24. AKSHI TARPANA

Well melted and strained medicated ghee will be collected in Ayurveda ridge made around the eyes with black gram paste.

25. PUTAPAKAM

Herbal juice mixed with goat’s milk is collected around the eyes as the same way as in tarpana.

26. NETRADHARA

Eye washes with special herbal decoction, done by two persons.



27. ASCHYOTHANAM

Application of eye drops.

28. MUKHLEPAM

A herbal powder is mixed with cow’s milk and applied on the face . It is kept for one hour and then washed . This is herbal face pack.

29. KSEERDHOOM

Steaming the patient’s face and with medicated milk steams.
